Alternating Current (AC) Measurements

NSCL maintains the following standards as the reference standards of AC voltage, AC current, power and energy for Syria and for the dissemination of the related units:

  • A Fluke 5790A is the reference measurement standard of AC voltage, that depends on AC-DC thermal transfer technique.
  • A Fluke 5790A and a Ballantine 1625A active shunt are the reference measurement standards of AC current.
  • A Yokogawa 2885 watt converter is the reference measurement standard of AC power.
  • A Yokogawa 2885 watt converter and a Yokogawa B9882CA V-F converter are the reference measurement standards of AC energy.
Measured quantity/Calibrated item Range Expanded uncertainty (K=2)
AC Voltmeters 100 mV to 1000 V (50 Hz to 100 kHz) (100 to 250) ppm
1 mV to 50 mV at 1 kHz (300 to 800) ppm
AC Voltage Calibrators 100 mV to 1000 V (50 Hz to 100 kHz) (80 to 200) ppm
1 mV to 50 mV at 1 kHz  (200 to 500) ppm
AC Ammeters 100 μA to 20 A ( 50 Hz to 400 Hz) (200 to 500) ppm
20 A to 60 A ( 50 Hz to 400 Hz) (500 to 1000) ppm
AC Current Calibrators 100 μA to 20A ( 50 Hz to 400 Hz) (150 to 300) ppm
20 A to 100 A ( 50 Hz to 400 Hz) (300 to 500) ppm
AC Current Transformers 0.5 A to 200 A at 50 Hz (100 ppm & 0.2 min)
AC Power Meters (Watt) (3 V to 600 V) x (0.1 A to 30 A) ( 50 Hz to 400 Hz) (100 to 500) ppm
Electronic Standard Energy Meters (Watt-hour) (3 V to 600 V) x (0.1 A to 30 A) ( 50Hz-400 Hz) (200 to 500) ppm

Note: 100 mV and 1000 V can be calibrated up to 20 kHz only. NSCL can provide calibrations for other related equipment, such as Clamp meters up-to 1200 A, high voltage instruments up-to 50 kVac at 50 Hz and watt hour meters. How To Request Calibration Services
