The Alternating Current (AC) section is responsible for the establishment, maintenance and dissemination of the Syrian national standards of the AC voltage, AC current, AC power, and AC energy quantities.
The national standard of AC voltage and AC current are represented by an AC measurement standard, Fluke 5790A and AC active shunt, Ballantine 1625A.
The national standard of AC power is represented by a standard watt converter, Yokogawa 2885.
The national standard of AC energy is represented by a standard watt converter, Yokogawa 2885, and V-F converter Yokogawa B9882CA.
The national standards of AC section are traceable to the international system of units (SI), through an unbroken chain of calibration abroad at national metrology institutes (NMI’s).
The AC section performs measurements and provides calibration services to industrial sectors and scientific institutes for both public and private sectors.
Calibrations carried out by the AC section cover a wide range of electrical standards and measuring instruments up-to the next table:
